Message from the Principal
Dear Scholars, Staff, and Families,
It is with great pride and excitement that I write this letter as the newly appointed Interim Acting Principal of Wings Academy. I am humbled and honored to have been selected to lead your school and eager to meet and collaborate with each of you. I can assure you that I am committed wholeheartedly to serving the Wings Academy scholars, staff and families.
Prior to Wings Academy, I served in a variety of teaching and leadership roles over the past 25 years. Some of the roles include CTE teacher, technology director, assistant principal and IT Programs director for the NYCDOE central office. My academic background includes a Bachelor’s in Occupational Education, a Master’s in Education Administration and a Doctorate in Computing. My extensive experiences inside schools, supporting schools from an external office, both inside and outside of the NYC Department of Education, has afforded me the opportunity to be exposed to many resources, strategies, opportunities, and programs that could benefit the Wings Academy school community.
As a proud father of a high school junior, I believe it is vital to provide all scholars with a high-quality instructional program coupled with experiences outside the classroom. In order to accomplish this, I believe three key components are necessary; 1) Teachers must be provided the support, resources, and professional development required to improve instructional practices, 2) Students must be exposed to appropriate course offerings and real-world experiences in order to set the appropriate path to college and career, and 3) Collaboration, communication and partnerships with parents is vital in supporting student and family needs as well as improving student outcomes.
I look forward to meeting each of you. I welcome and encourage your voice and input as I learn about the great things already in place at Wings Academy. Let’s always remember to keep each scholar at Wings our primary focus and to provide them the greatest opportunity to become our future leaders.
